Owner of Built, Not Born Athletics

Bachelor of Science, Exercise Science, Northern state university, Aberdeen, SD

Bachelor of Sports Science, Physical Education, Health and Coaching, Northern state university, Aberdeen, SD

“I grew up in a small town called Tyler, MN where I always played baseball, basketball, and football in grade school.  After high school, I attended Fergus Falls Community College and continued to play baseball, football and basketball.  I then transferred to Northern State University (NSU), working on my Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, Health, and Coaching degree as well as played football for the Wolves. In 1999 we swept the NSIC with a 9-0 record and were crowned Conference Champions. In the years of 2002 and 2003, I focused my time on NIFL for the Bismarck Roughriders.

In 2006, I went back to NSU to for a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. After NSU I became a trainer for Healthway's Training Center (now Sanford POWER) in Bismarck, ND. I trained athletes of all ages and levels of play. In the fall of 2010, I moved to Sioux Falls, SD and have been a personal trainer for your everyday average person who wants that extra push to athletes from various ages and degrees of experience to be faster, stronger, and smarter.

Being able to help young athletes achieve athletic and personal goals has always been a dream of mine.  Growing up in a small town I didn't have the same opportunities other kids did from bigger schools.  While it's important to have that person who can help you reach your goals in whatever sport you want to pursue, I am a strong advocate in teaching players the fundamentals of what it takes to be a long-term athlete.   Play the game is one thing, but being able to keep playing long after your high school and/or college days will not only help you stay a strong and fast player, but teaching the fundamentals makes any player an even better athlete.”

I provide private lessons to all levels, beginning to advanced. I also do small group clinics throughout Minnesota for all levels, including coaches. My instruction focuses on correct mechanics and ball placement.  With that being my priority, I also believe in movement and last but not least speed. Of course to command all 4 is the goal in becoming an elite pitcher.

I pitched for Stillwater high school where we won the 95' and 96' State Championships. I was named Metro player of the year in 96' among other awards. I then played for St. Cloud State University where I was a three time first team All-American among other awards and where I currently hold many records for pitching. I'm in the Hall of Fame for St. Croix Valley Sports, St. Cloud State, and NCAA Division II.

I have been a softball coach and a private pitching coach for 15+ years. I've coached at the college level, high school, junior high and local community leagues.

Emma Adams

A Native of Albuquerque New Mexico, Emma grew up around the game. Both her and her bother would spend countless hours honing their skills in their home batting cage. All of this hard work and dedication paid off. Emma was a 4 year started in High School on the Varsity team, which then lead to a 4 year starting career at 3B for New Mexico State. There she earned many accolades from All Region 3rd Team to 2 time 2nd Team All-Conference and All-Tournament Team, and adding the WAC MVP.

Emma’s primary hitting approach is one of contact and precision. Focusing on hand-eye coordination, quick bat- to – ball, and overall control. Her skills lead to her setting a school record for doubles…which still stands today.

Tyler Beaulieu

Head Coach of Woodbury Athletic Association, 12U AAA team that summer, along with some parents of the boys on my team that filled in as assistants. I also have coached high-school as I went back to help out at Tartan High school during a spring internship.

I’ve been working at PHD Sports for over 2 years now along with Johnny Economy. My best coaching attributes include 1 on 1 catching lessons, along with hitting lessons. In high school and college, I was known for power hitting and my arm behind the plate.

Teddy Klingsporn

Grew up in Oakdale, MN. Graduated from Tartan High School in 2013 while playing basketball and baseball. From there, Teddy went on to attend Luther College in Decorah, IA. While graduating with a Management Degree, he also pitched all four years for the Norse. There he started 38 games on the mound (second all time in school history), struck out a total of 187 (fourth all time), threw 243.1 innings (third all time), and finished with a career record of 20-7 (third best record in school history). Teddy's main focus was to prepare his new teammates for the collegiate level. He was the coach of the South St. Paul Legion Baseball team while spending the summers back home in Minnesota. Now while having experience on the mound, Teddy's speciality for coaching involves arm strength and development along with accuracy. Teddy has the desire to work all types of pitches in athletes to prepare them for the next level.

NATE MELEK

Born and raised in Minnetonka, MN. 2002 Hopkins HS Graduate. My passion for baseball has been with me since I was 4 years old. When asked in elementary school “What do you want to do when you grow up”? I always responded with “Play Baseball”. I dedicated my time to the craft and had a lot of great mentors along the way at the HS, college and professional levels that helped me advance my career and skill set. I have coached for 9 years both teams and private lessons. My goal is to pass on the same knowledge I have learned, to the next generation of ball players and watch them learn and grow into their full potential. This is not a cookie cutter sport but rather a unique sport where each individual brings something different to the table to hone in on.
